NSW innovators triumph at apartment awards

The exemplary, innovative and affordable emerged victorious at the NSW Australian Apartment Advocacy’s (AAA) Awards for Excellence.

“These award-winning projects make our whole community proud,” Australian Apartment Advocacy CEO Samantha Reece said.

Nightingale Marrickville, a build-to-rent collaboration between Nightingale, SJB and Fresh Hope Communities, double dipped, the only project to win two categories, Affordability and Pioneering, as well as a special commendation for Diversity in Housing Choice.

The project, with 54 homes and two commercial tenancies, rents homes for 80 per cent of the going market rate, with half the space-efficient, small-footprint homes set aside for vulnerable members of the community.

Frasers Property, which collected silverware for Nautilus (Best Regional), also won special commendations for Midtown MacPark in the Precinct Rejuvenation and Affordable categories.

There were 25 entrants in 10 categories, Affordability, Ageing in Place, Best Regional, Boutique, Diversity in Housing Choice, Heritage and Community Culture, Innovation and Technology, Luxury, Pioneering and Precinct Rejuvenation.

Ms Reece also congratulated winners of Ageing in Place, Studio SC and Provectus Care for Sage; Hall and Campbell and Studio SC/Rebel Property and Capitel Group (Boutique) for their Bondi beach front effort; Homes NSW and Traders in Purple for Northsea (Diversity in Housing Choice); The East Sydney Collection by MHNDU and HIGA (Heritage and Community Culture); BVN and Greenland Group for Greenland Centre (Innovation and Technology); BVN and JDH Capital for the Sirius, the brutalist former public housing turned high-end living complex (Luxury); and BVN and JQZ for Vivacity (Precinct Rejuvenation)

“These innovative, high-quality projects, ranging from affordable to top-end luxury, inspire confidence that this industry has the smarts to overcome past struggles to deliver a diverse range of quality housing for Australians with a range of housing budgets,” Ms

Reece said.

“AAA believes the industry will continue to realise even greater innovation and sustainability potential and these leaders have overcome challenges to deliver to address the housing crisis foremostly.”
