The apartment sector leading light is an award that is decided upon by the judges for those persons who are shaping and leading the apartment sector and AAA was delighted to advise that there were two recipients for the inaugural Queensland Awards.
The first recipient oversees one of the largest and longest standing private construction companies in Australia. Formed over 110 years ago this Director is a champion for build quality and has created a culture in his company that is known as the Hutchies Way.
His generous spirit meant that in 2019, Hutchies won Philanthropist of the Year for its support of not-for-profit organisations including AEIOU, Bravehearts, National Association of Women in Construction, YoungCare and many other charities. The award was also attributed to the urban honey bee initiative which has seen the addition of bee hives across Hutchies’ office rooftops nationally.
Hutchies also won the Queensland Government’s 2020 Business Reconciliation Award for its work developing Statim Yaga, an indigenous employment initiative which has so far trained and employed over 500 First Australians. It has also previously twice won the Australian Training Awards’ Large Employer of the Year for other training achievements and programs.
The first recipient for the Apartment Sector Leading Light was Scott Hutchinson of Hutchison Builders.
The second winner is CEO of a not-for-profit that has been operating for over 30 years in the Sunshine Coast. Recently achieving Tier 1 status, of which there are only 39 across Australia, this CEO has committed his company to $100 million dollars in investment in social housing over the next five years.
Actively working with State and Local Government to deliver affordable and social housing, many for women in need, this company is operating at a grass routes level in an area which is extremely challenging. Through this CEO’s commitment this company is making a real impact and demonstrating that inroads can be made within the affordable housing sector.
AAA awarded Andrew Elvin of Coast2Bay for his extraordinary commitment.
